IC Training and Capacity Building

Advanced Training for Internal Committee Members

The Internal Committee (IC) plays a pivotal role under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. Entrusted with receiving complaints, conducting inquiries, evaluating evidence, and making recommendations, the Committee performs functions that are quasi-judicial in nature. These responsibilities require not only a sound understanding of the law but also the ability to apply legal principles fairly, objectively, and consistently.

At POSHAdvo, our Internal Committee Capacity Building programmes are designed to equip IC members with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed to perform their responsibilities effectively. We bridge the gap between statutory requirements and real-world workplace challenges, helping Committee members understand the legal framework, procedural expectations, inquiry timelines, and the importance of maintaining procedural fairness throughout every stage of the inquiry process.

Practical Inquiry Skills & Evidence Management

Conducting an effective inquiry requires much more than recording statements. Our training provides practical guidance on managing hearings, framing relevant questions, recording testimonies accurately, handling sensitive situations, and ensuring that both the complainant and the respondent receive a fair opportunity to present their case. Participants learn how to maintain neutrality while conducting inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and procedural integrity.

A major focus of the programme is developing the ability to evaluate evidence objectively. Committee members are trained to assess documentary records, electronic communications, digital evidence, witness testimony, and circumstantial material by examining their relevance, reliability, and credibility. The programme also covers effective questioning techniques, enabling IC members to conduct respectful and unbiased examinations, seek meaningful clarifications, identify inconsistencies where appropriate, and ensure fair and balanced proceedings.

Inquiry Reports, Legal Updates & Capacity Building

Preparing a legally sound Inquiry Report is one of the Internal Committee’s most significant responsibilities. Our programme provides practical guidance on drafting well-structured reports that clearly identify the issues considered, summarise the evidence, record objective findings, and present well-reasoned recommendations in accordance with the POSH Act. This strengthens the legal defensibility of the Committee’s conclusions and promotes consistency in decision-making.

To keep Committee members updated, our capacity-building programmes also cover significant judicial pronouncements, emerging workplace trends, evolving best practices, and recent developments in employment law. By understanding how courts and regulatory authorities interpret the law, IC members gain valuable insights that help them avoid procedural errors and make legally sustainable decisions.

At POSHAdvo, we believe that a well-trained Internal Committee is the foundation of an effective grievance redressal mechanism. By combining legal expertise with practical workplace experience, we help organizations build confident, competent, and independent Internal Committees that conduct fair, impartial, and legally compliant inquiries while strengthening trust, accountability, and workplace governance.
